1 What is the main goal of the business coaching service?

A: The main goal of the business coaching service is to help participating entities find a suitable international business partner and prepare for the cooperation in the best way possible in order to conclude commercial cooperation agreements.

2 What is the business coaching service and what does it provide?

A: Our service is designed to help participating companies find a suitable international business partner and prepare for the cooperation in the best way possible. For this purpose, the business coaching service comprises a three-step process:

  1. Specialised information and training
  2. Matchmaking and
  3. Individual coaching

The service will provide your institution/company with expert information and training on the target region/countries of interest, and with tailor-made coaching services to find the most suitable partner so that commercial cooperation agreements based on EU space capabilities can be concluded between EU and non-EU partners. You can read more about each step under questions 16, 17, and 18.

3 Who can apply for the business coaching service?

A: Any legal entity (company, organisation or institution) established and based in one of the EU member states that operates or is willing to operate in the space sector or uses or is willing to use space data, technologies, service or applications can join the business coaching service by applying for the open call .

Any legal entity (company, organisation or institution) established and based in one of the covered countries outside the EU that wants to benefit from the European space sector can join the business coaching service by applying for the open call .

4 What criteria need to be met to be selected for the business coaching service?

A: Private and/or public EU entities (companies, organisations or institutions) meeting the following criteria are welcome to apply for the service:

  • Legally established and based in one of the European Union member states
  • Operates or is willing to operate in the space sector or uses or is willing to use EU space data, technologies, services, or applications
  • Demonstrates 3 years of financial figures (turnover, net profit, total balance)
  • Demonstrates or is willing to demonstrate exports outside the domestic market
  • Priority will be given to small and medium-sized enterprises (SME) according to the EU definition

Non-EU private and/or public entities (companies, organisations or institutions) meeting the following criteria are welcome to apply for the service:

  • Legally established and based in one of the eight geographical regions participating in the EU Global Action on Space business coaching service (see the full list of covered countries under question 14)
  • Private or public companies of all kinds and sizes, including entities related to the space sector, space agencies, research organisations, universities, and technology centres not subject to restrictive measures by the EU
  • Demonstrates 3 years of financial figures (turnover, net profit, total balance)

5 Do I have to register?

A: All business coaching services are free of charge.

8 For how long can my institution/company benefit from the service?

A: In general, the business coaching service will be provided for three months including expert training, matchmaking, coaching and consulting services. The depth and degree of service will depend on the specific objectives, needs and background of the entities receiving the service.

9 What is the timeline for applying? By when do I have to apply?

A: In order to support participating companies and entities in the best way possible, the business coaching service collects and evaluates applications every three months. The assessment of your application will only take place after the following upcoming cut-off dates:

15 Why is the EU Global Action on Space focusing only on specific target countries? 

A: The EU Global Action on Space covers countries with which the European Union has relations in the field of space, together with those with meaningful space ecosystems and potential for space-related development.

16 What does specialised information and training mean?

A: The first step in our service is a specialised information and training module, which we have created to help you grow internationally. You will receive a series of webinars to close gaps in your internationalisation strategy, inform you about the region of interest and provide ad-hoc info sessions on EU space. All this is designed to prepare you for matchmaking with a relevant partner.

17 What does matchmaking entail?

A: The business coaching service helps your institution/company/organisation to find the right partner with common business interests and complementary services in more than 40 countries worldwide. The main goal of the EU Global Action on Space is to provide new opportunities for EU space stakeholders all over the world, namely by fuelling and supporting cooperation and creating new business opportunities in the field of space. A matchmaking event will take place after each open call cut-off date. This networking online event, professionally steered by the Global Action staff, will connect participants from the EU and the different geographical areas covered by the Global Action. According to the areas of interest shown on the application form, EU companies may be invited to multiple networking events in different regions/countries. Companies that are unable to find a match during the networking events will continue to be assisted for a maximum of two months. Please be aware that this service only supports matches between EU and non-EU partners.

18 Process of individual coaching: how does it work?

A: The final step is a tailored individual coaching and consulting service for pre-selected potential partnerships based on the previous steps. The European Commission holds the final decision on the institutions/companies/organisations selected for individual coaching. This decision is final and claims are not possible. The business coaching service’s global expert pool will then coach selected companies/institutions for a maximum of three months with the objective of facilitating a commercial cooperation agreement between EU and non-EU institutions/companies in the field of space.

A: You will receive unlimited coaching within three months from the business coaching service (we will help you identify gaps, areas of attention, milestones and timeline, etc.) and individual consulting from our global expert pool if you are selected for this service.

A: No, this is not envisaged.

23 What is the global expert pool?

A: The EU Global Action on Space gives you access to a vast network of worldwide experts that will provide you with direct support, no matter whether you need technical advice on EGNOS or the Galileo and Copernicus programmes. Our pool of experts will also provide support and give you insights into the global market potential of your service and country-focused hands-on support or advice on business consulting, such as intercultural, legal or administrative aspects. Please be aware that this service only covers support for matches between EU and non-EU partners.

A: Copernicus is the European Union’s Earth observation programme, which looks at our planet and its environment to benefit all European citizens.
